Writing Prompts
Poetry/Prose Prompts
In this section, you can address common questions efficiently.
Nature's Language
Imagine that the trees or rivers can talk to one another, what would they say to each other about the world around them?
Memories
Choose a memory. It could be happy, sad, important, or something that happened minutes ago. Imagine the memory from the perspective of an object in the room.
Growth and Decay
Explore the nature of growth and decay. Look at the world around you- you can interpret this prompt literally and look at rust and mold, or something more abstract like moral decay.
Objects
Choose a random object you can see around you. Write about the object as if it is a person- get descriptive.
Additionally, choose two contrasting objects and write about a relationship or interaction between them.
Suitcase
Write about a character who has to fit their entire life into a suitcase. It can be literal or metaphorical.
Eye contact
Write about an interaction where two people make eye contact. Think about what their pre-existing relationship is: they could be lovers, strangers, neighbours, or maybe estranged family. Explore the tension and other feelings the characters feel.
