Shadows: Visual Arts Competition - Terms and Conditions
Thank you for participating in Shadows, a visual arts competition hosted by In the Works. By entering this competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility
- The competition is open to residents of New Zealand only. Proof of residency may be requested. You do not need to be a New Zealand Citizen.
2. Competition Theme
- The theme for this competition is "Shadows". Contestants are invited to create a visual artwork inspired by the concept of shadows. All forms of visual art are welcome, including but not limited to photography, painting, drawing, digital art, and mixed media.
- Artwork must be original. Entries that infringe on any copyrights or intellectual property will be disqualified.
3. Submission Guidelines
- Deadline for submissions: February 1st 2025
- Each contestant may submit one (1) entry.
- Entries must be submitted in a digital format via email as specified in the competition details.
- All entries must fill out the Shadows Entry Form with their contact details and information about their work.
4. Prizes
- Winner: The contestant with the highest-rated artwork will receive a cash prize of NZD $100.
- Top 3: The top three pieces will be featured in the In the Works Published Work Archive on our website.
- No additional compensation will be provided for any artwork featured or used by In the Works outside of the published archive.
5. Intellectual Property and Credits
- Ownership: Contestants retain full ownership of their artwork. In the Works will not claim ownership or control over any submitted works.
- Credits: All artwork that is published or displayed as part of the competition will be fully credited to the artist, including their name and a link to their portfolio (if provided).
- Removal Request: Contestants may request the removal of their artwork from the Published Work Archive at any time. Upon request, In the Works will remove the artwork within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Judging and Selection
- All entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of qualified judges appointed by In the Works. The panel’s decisions are final and binding.
- The judging criteria will be based on creativity, relevance to the theme of "Shadows", overall execution, and originality.
7. Publicity
- By entering the competition, contestants grant In the Works the right to use images of their artwork for promotional purposes, both online and in print, with full attribution to the artist.
- Contestants agree that their name and artwork may be published on In the Works’s website, social media, and other marketing materials related to the competition.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
- All personal information collected from contestants will be used solely for the purpose of managing the competition and communicating with entrants.
- Contestants can request access to their personal data, and may ask for it to be corrected or deleted, in accordance with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.
9. General Terms
- In the Works reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these terms and conditions, or that violates the spirit of the competition.
- In the Works reserves the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time without notice.
- In the Works will not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in the competition or from the use of any awarded prizes.
10. Governing Law
- These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising in connection with the competition will be resolved under New Zealand jurisdiction.
